KUWAIT: Last year, 2012, marked the highest percentage of crimes in the country in five years, and the largest percentage of those crimes were against public funds at 63.6% of the total crimes while May marked the highest number. The important results of the total crimes of various types and categories was prepared by the research and studies center at the Ministry of Interior.

Statistics pointed several points that reflect the importance of government’s serious action to keep a stable society, and most notable points are:

1- The largest rate of the total crimes during the period from 2008-2012 was in 2012 at a rate of 695 for every 100,000 of the population while 2010 recorded the lowest at 664 for every 100,000.

2- The lowest number of unknown crimes during the period from 2008-2012 was in 2009, as the number of unknown crimes was 7653, while 2012 marked the highest at 11,512 crimes.

3- With the study of the crimes four categories for 2012: crimes against public interest, crimes against persons, crimes against reputation and honor and crimes against funds, we find out that the largest percentage is against funds as it was 63.4% of the total crimes in 2012 followed by honor and reputation at 17.4.

4- As for the geographical distribution of the total crimes in 2012 it was in Hawally governorate at a rate of 868 crimes for every 100,000 people followed by the capital at 864 per 100,000.

5- The highest number of unknown crimes for 2012 was in Jahra Governorate as the percentage was 48.2% of the total crimes in that governorate while the least of such crimes were committed in Mubarak Al-Kabeer at 36.8% of the total crimes in that governorate.

6- The highest percentage of unknown crimes in 2012 were money crimes at 62.4% of the total money crimes compared with 12.4% of other unknowed crimes.

7- Spring is the season with most crimes, as the number of crimes in this season was 7520 crimes followed by winter at 6649 crimes.

8- May is considered the month of most crimes compared with the rest of 2012 months, as the number of crimes in this month was 2577 followed by April in the number of crimes was 2504

9- The number of unknown crimes in February was 48.1% of the total crimes in that month which is the highest percentage among unknown crimes which is considered the highest percentage of unknown crimes compared with the rest of 2012 months.

10- The number of total money crimes is the highest among women at 1032 followed by bodily harm crimes at 918 women in 2012.

11- The highest number of citizens crimes in 2012 was committed in Hawally at 2986.

12- The highest number of non citizens crimes in 2012 was in Hawally at 3346.

13- The highest number of female crimes in 2012 was in Mubarak Al-Kabeer compared with the rest of governorates at 18.9% followed by Hawally at 18.5%.

14- The highest number of citizens crimes in 2012 was in bodily harm at 3314.

15- The highest number of crimes against honor and reputation for 2012 was by Iraqis at 409 per 100,000 of the population, followed by bedoons at 361 per 100,000 of bedoons.

16- The highest rate of crimes against public funds for 2012 was by bedoons as the number of those who committed this crime is 381 for every 100,000 of bedoons followed by Iranians at 377 for every 100,000 Iranians.

17- The police station that received most crimes is Salmiya at 1780 crimes for 2012 followed by Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh with 1277 crimes.

18- The highest number of criminals among non citizens in 2012 are public funds at 4721 criminals.

19- The highest rate of criminals was among bedoons at 1389 criminals per 100,000 of bedoons in 2012.

20- The daily rate of crimes per day in Kuwait was 72 crimes for 2012.

21- The highest rate of crimes against public interest in 2012 was by bedoons at 132 per 100,000 while Kuwaitis were third at 73 criminal per 100,000.

22- The highest rate of crimes related to bodily harm in 2012 was by bedoons at a rate of 515 per 100,000 while Iraqis were thirds at a rate of 345 criminals per 100,000.
